Our Model’s History

The Auburn Valley Railroad, which has celebrated steam trains for more than 50 years, entered new territory in the summer of 2013 with the addition of a gasoline-powered “diesel-style” engine. Acquired in August, the F-7 double unit resembles passenger trains of the 1950s and went into service at the September Steamin’ Day. Unlike the steam locomotives of the Auburn Valley Railroad that require up to one hour to fire up and then an additional hour to cool down, this engine can start immediately with no firing-up or clean-up time.
