Development of the Yorklyn Valley Railroad

In February 2022, the Marshall Steam Museum announced plans to build an outdoor Gauge 1/G Scale (45mm gauge) model railroad on a plot of land adjacent to the West Yorklyn Station. Named the Yorklyn Valley Railroad (YVRR), this new addition complements the existing Auburn Valley Railroad and will offer an exciting new attraction during the Museum’s Steamin’ Days.

The YVRR will also expand the Museum’s educational offerings by authentically modeling the railroad and industrial history of the Red Clay Valley in the early 1900s. It will serve as a valuable resource for youth Model Railroad Camps and other educational programs.

The mission of the Yorklyn Valley Railroad is to provide a dedicated space for operating Gauge 1 model trains while preserving and sharing the rich railroad and industrial heritage of Delaware’s Red Clay Valley at the turn of the 20th century.
