Meet our new Executive Director!

The Marshall Steam Museum and Friends of Auburn Heights are delighted to announce the appointment of Rachel English as the organization’s new Executive Director. A seasoned museum professional, Rachel brings a passion for creating connection and belonging through cultural experiences. Originally from Colorado Springs, she most recently served at the Space Foundation Discovery Center, where she led both the Curatorial and Guest Experience teams. During her nine-year tenure, she helped guide the museum through its 10th anniversary and a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion, earning recognition as one of the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s “Rising Stars” in 2020 and the Community Trustee Award from Leadership Pikes Peak in 2023.

Rachel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Hendrix College and a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. Her leadership combines a deep appreciation for history with a commitment to community engagement—an ideal match for advancing the mission of the Marshall Steam Museum and the Friends of Auburn Heights. Jen Valencia (Operations and Volunteer Manager), Josh Horowitz (Events and Public Programs), and Carole Wells (Accounting Manager), look forward to the creativity, energy, and expertise Rachel will bring to this next chapter.

Rachel will begin January 5th and the rest of the team is very excited to all grow and work together.
